Meghan Markle makes first appearance since King Charles reunion, joining Prince Harry at Kevin Costner’s star-studded charity event

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry surprised attendees with a joint appearance at Kevin Costner’s star-studded charity event in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

The 44-year-old Suits alum accompanied her husband to the One805LIVE! concert, held at the Yellowstone actor’s oceanfront estate. The event attracted other notable figures, including Oprah Winfrey.

This outing marks the couple’s first public engagement together since Prince Harry, 41, met with his father, King Charles, face-to-face in London for the first time in 18 months.

Meghan wore a sleeveless dark navy dress paired with elegant pumps for the outdoor occasion, which supports funding for local fire, police, and sheriff departments. Her brunette hair was parted to the side and styled in soft waves that fell past her shoulders.

Harry opted for a smart-casual look with a black button-down shirt, black trousers, and a blazer. The couple was seen arriving at the venue and mingling warmly with other guests at the charity concert.

Throughout the evening, Meghan smiled brightly and shared a friendly hug with fellow attendees. The Duke and Duchess, married in 2018, also took time to engage with first responders and law enforcement present at the event.

Later, the couple took the stage together, where Harry delivered a few words to the audience as they stood close to one another.

According to the event’s official website, the concert is an annual benefit that unites legendary musicians and devoted supporters to raise money for essential equipment and mental health programs for Santa Barbara County’s first responders.

Performers included Trisha Yearwood, Good Charlotte, and The Fray.

Oprah Winfrey also made an appearance in a stylish outfit and has maintained a close relationship with Meghan and Harry over the years.

Earlier this month, Harry met with King Charles at Clarence House for a 50-minute face-to-face meeting — their first in a year and a half — as the monarch continues cancer treatment.

High-level discussions are now underway to facilitate a gradual public reconciliation between Charles and Harry, marking the first significant sign of unity in over six years.

The last time Harry and Charles appeared together and visibly happy at an official event was in April 2019 at the Our Planet premiere at London’s Natural History Museum.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has only been seen with family at the funerals of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.

A public reunion between King Charles and Harry would symbolize a thaw in their relationship and a potential acceptance of the Duke — alongside Meghan and their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four — back into the royal fold after years of tension.

Meanwhile, tensions reportedly persist between the King and the Prince of Wales, with sources saying Charles is displeased that William’s workload is lighter than his own. William, in turn, is said to be unhappy about the recent meeting between Charles and Harry.

Insiders reveal that careful plans are being made to ease the ongoing family rift.

Some proposals include Harry participating in more public UK events, though not as an official working royal.

Harry remains hopeful about rebuilding his relationship with William, despite the strained dynamic following “Megxit.”

Even with these positive steps, Harry is realistic about some of the damage to his reputation being irreversible.

Nonetheless, many royal commentators noted Harry seemed comfortable and in his element during recent public appearances, engaging warmly with the public and enjoying moments with children.

This favorable public reception did not go unnoticed at the Palace, where there is a shortage of working royals willing to carry out everyday public duties.

A source explained: “Harry’s visit to the UK wasn’t about competing with his brother. On the contrary, it was a reminder to William that Harry can help share the workload, especially since William has faced criticism for fewer public engagements than their father.

“This doesn’t require Harry to be a working royal — it’s about supporting causes they both care about, like the Diana Award and conservation.

“Above all, Harry wants to spend more time with his father, make him proud, and support him during his treatment.”
